Laser Eye Surgery clinic introduces ‘drop-in’ service to help patients discover their options
With more people than ever choosing laser eye surgery, people might assume that getting to speak to an expert will take time – and some will put off a consultation because of work commitments or other pressures.
A solution has now come from Optimax, the Laser eye surgery specialists, who are holding a series of ‘Open Days’ across the UK this May to meet the needs of those who struggle to find spare time in their busy schedules.
The events will allow those who are pressed for time, or simply curious about their options, to drop in at Optimax clinics and speak to eye specialists without booking an appointment or committing to a full-length consultation.
Visitors will be given a short suitability assessment, and the chance to speak to an experienced optometrist.
“People are often surprised to find that they’re suitable, especially those with strong prescriptions, who tend to think they’re stuck wearing glasses for life” says Clinic manager Debbie O’Keeffe.
Around 80% of candidates for laser eye surgery will be suitable, and for those who are unsuited to laser treatments, Optimax now offer a range of advanced vision solutions, meaning that almost all prescriptions can be treated.
Laser eye surgery is now the most popular private procedure performed in the UK, with an estimated half a million people having treatment.
Dates for Open Days at Optimax are throughout May, check clinic details or call Customer Services for more information on 08705 14 33 14.
About Optimax
Founded in 1991, Optimax is a laser eye surgery specialist with 23 clinics across the UK.
It is the only specialist UK laser eye surgery clinic chain, with expertise gained from more than 300,000 treatments. Its recent GBP £5m investment in the latest technology means that more people than ever are achieving 20:20 vision.

Stevenage, UK.
Widget UK Ltd, the trade only distributor of consumer electronics, has overhauled its website at www.widget.co.uk, to show the range of services it offers to vendors, as well as those it offers to the retailers and other channel partners it supplies.
Customers have long been able to log in to the website to see exact numbers of product in stock, and order at trade pricing. The company provides live feeds and XML ordering capability to many of its retail partners. In the new website, a new cart site has been introduced to allow easier ordering, and administration of returns.
In the redesign, vendors too are given a separate section of the website. Here the distributor’s strategy for manufacturers is outlined, emphasising the focus, information and logistics skills which Widget can bring to bear.
Managing Director, Jo-Anne Foreman explains some of the thinking behind the redesign. “We want to emphasise the true added value which Widget gives to our suppliers, as well as the services which customers expect from us. Behind the rapid growth and the raft of awards we have won lies a clear value proposition which brings benefits to all our channel partners, and the structure of the website is designed to make this clear to the widest audience.”
The improved layout is illustrated throughout with recent photography of actual employees.

With World Cup fever starting to grip the country, now’s the time to ensure your TV reception is ready for kick off. Half the country should be able to receive Freeview HD by June and the digital TV roll out is also in full swing.
But you may need to replace or adjust your aerial before you can join the digital revolution. Rooftop aerials over ten years old may have corroded, especially in seaside locations, or they may be pointing in the wrong direction.
With a weak analogue signal you just get progressively worse reception, whereas with digital it may mean you simply can’t watch TV at all – there’s no halfway house of poor digital frequency.
A high-powered internal aerial could be the solution. One For All’s Full HD aerial (model SV9380) gives crystal clear pictures for Full HD television, DVB-T television and DAB radio. It’s also perfect for the 12 million analogue TV sets that will need to be converted to receive digital TV via the aerial with a Freeview box.
Even homes with cable or satellite still have second or third TV sets in kitchens and bedrooms that receive their signal via an aerial. If there’s no accessible TV point for an external antenna, the SV9380 aerial will enable you to catch up on all the games.
In a special World Cup promotion running throughout May and June in Argos, Comet, Maplins and other retailers you can get £10 off the price – now just £39.99.
‘Dual Patch’ technology means it’s two aerials in one, with a 180 degree angle of reception – so there’s no longer any need to adjust the aerial inch-by-inch to get the best signal! And the triple filters eliminate any interference from WiFi and mobile phones.
Easy to install, simply connect it to the set top box with the coaxial cable included. The sleek, flat design and aluminium stand mean it can be placed on any shelf or cabinet. It measures just 280mm x 138mm x 48mm – and it’s so stylish, it doesn’t even look like an aerial!
It’s suitable for most locations up to 18 miles from the transmitter*. Check the type you need by visiting the aerial selector at http://www.oneforall.com/aerials
If you need to go for an external aerial, One For All is also offering £10 off the purchase of the SV9351 outdoor aerial – down to £29.99 – plus a further £10 off installation before and during the World Cup.
According to a GfK survey during the last World Cup in 2006, sales of TVs and related accessories shot up by 180% across Europe.
