Average broadband speed’s stall – broadband.co.uk March 2010 speedtest results.

Research by analysts at broadband.co.uk have shown that average broadband have stalled at an average of 4.527Mbps during March 2010, down by 0.132Mbps from the previous months.

“After some great overall results in February it’s slightly disappointing to see the progress stall in March ” Says Edd Dawson , Editor of broadband.co.uk.

The results are based on data collated every time the hundreds of thousands of ordinary broadband users performed a broadband speed test on the broadband.co.uk site during March.

Virgin Media still leads all the speedtest tables with an overall average over 8Mbps, though they did not extend their lead during March. O2 and Be still lead the chasing pack at 5.355Mbps, of the remaining suppliers we are still waiting for the next one to break the 4Mbps barrier.

“It’s clear that despite the flurry of publicity about BT’s new Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC) network starting to roll out at the start of the year the number of households actually taking advantage is negligible at this point.” Dawson continued.
